Shipping doesn’t work for me unless there’s some personal connection between the characters in question, which is why my cross-media ships exclusively involve pairings who share the same voice actor.
Personally I like to just add random details from an actor’s other roles into the role I’m writing fic about.
like how my first Tron fanfic was the one where Crom had the six Londo tentacles.
Why would a compound interest program have tentacles? Lol who cares. (My explanation was “more hands for counting on! ten fingers plus six tentacles and you can go up to hexadecimal!” but obviously the real reason was just Peter Jurasik.)
