That thought crossed my mind, when I heard about this detail. But it seems unlikely.
First, the final scene with Sam and Quorra on the motorcycle gave me the impression it happened more than 29 minutes after she left the Grid… although I admit it’s possible? But she seems awfully calm for someone who’s had less than a half hour to adjust to having a biological body.
Still, maybe Kevin Flynn spent a lot of time and effort training her and preparing her for that transition, since it was going to be part of his plan to change the world.
But that brings us to problem 2. If Kevin Flynn had such a very thorough plan for what Quorra was going to do out in the world… and if he’d designed most of this technology from the ground up, presumably knowing lots about how it works…. then why would he not be aware that she wouldn’t last out there?
So, my conclusion about the Ares detail is threefold (beyond the obvious Doylist “nobody thought or cared enough”).
1. Quorra would not rez the same as a normal program anyway, since she’s an ISO
2. The system Flynn built in his basement is not the same system Dillinger designed for the military, and would not work the same
3. Even in the Ares trailer, it is mentioned that programs who derezz in the User world can just be rerezzed again from their source code if they haven’t achieved their goal yet? So, the 29 minutes seem to be an obstacle only in the sense of a race against the clock to get something done that needs to get done in that time. With the failure outcome not necessarily being permanent death for the program (although I’m sure there are circumstances that could make it so).
So… who knows what happened with Quorra. But if I was her, I’d be just staying out of the entirety of the corporate and academic worlds in that whole universe. Forever.
