Tron movies have never brought in as much profit on opening weekend as Disney demands from its films

this is a franchise where

• the main theme is “heroic hackers take down villains who are greedy CEOs with unreasonable control over intellectual property,” and
• the target audience is computer nerds, who are 1. a smaller demographic than any of Disney’s usual ones, and 2. the most likely demographic to prefer watching movies at home instead of in theaters, and 3. the most likely demographic to know how to do this in ways that don’t give Disney any fucking money

what exactly have they been expecting.
