Just had the realization that Ares is actually a three laws compliant ai/program which is really funny to me
One of the lines in I, Robot that stuck with me the most is the psychologist’s insight that… a three-laws-compliant robot is more-or-less indistinguishable from a good human being.
One who will not harm people and will protect them from harm… and will follow rules and orders if they are good rules and orders that don’t harm any people… and will place personal survival below these goals, but above everything else that’s less important.
(The laws are extremely flawed, which is why there are no people or robots in real life that follow them perfectly. Even the original book only once dared to put a robot in a situation where it had to choose between two people to harm without any other option, and it straight-up crashed and died.)
(But Disney movie protagonists, human or otherwise, will usually come closer to following the three laws than any real people.)
