Been working on a Yori/Lora Tron fan art commission for @coupleofdays

(YoLo? Yori Yuri? Haha anyway it’s program/programmer and that’s soooo my thing)

I’m getting the hang of how I think I’m gonna do commissions.

I draw on paper, but a drawing commission requires at least some leeway for undoing and redoing details, which is difficult with paper… So I’ve been trying to figure things out

and so far it seems my process is

- do sketches in pencil until I think I like the overall layout of the drawing… then outline the sketch just clear enough to show up well on a scan

- scan it into the computer, open in Clip Studio (or whatever image editing program is handy, but that one works the best for me currently)

- edit to make it lighter and higher-contrast until it looks like just the faintest outlines of the shape I want

- print it onto a new sheet of paper, and use that as the sketch for the next draft of the drawing

- continue until I have a good sketch for the next draft

- repeat until complete

So… it’s turning out to be a fascinating mixture of old and new technologies

(very much like the making of Tron, I guess)
