Been meaning to redraw and finish “Ram and Roy Kleinberg light the Eight-Bit Menorah” for a while now
If any User holiday would catch on inside the computer it’d be the Festival of Lights. Ram would love the story of the miraculously long lasting energy source
I would pay to see various rabbis debating whether it’s possible to have a kosher digital menorah. Off the top of my head, what if Hannukah falls during Shabbat? You’re inside a computer, definitely lighting a spark. But you can’t turn off the computer, people live in there

…another possible topic of argument (going from the basis that Kleinberg is a Jewish name): wonder if Ram would be Jewish by birth (as he doesn’t literally have a mother, and Roy is perhaps the closest thing)?

Or, as Ram is a creature built and activated through the use of special words (programming language)… perhaps the closest thing to his birth is the creation of a golem…

hmm.

(though I’m not Jewish, I have always found the arguing rabbis of the Talmud fascinating… for perhaps the same reason that the concepts of programming fascinate me.)

(it’s the whole art of interpreting systems of rules, finding their loopholes and their possible interpretations and connections and the different ways they can be applied.)
