Tron reflects the computer development environment I grew up in; a constant tension between fierce academics and autistic wackos wanting to make the best possible thing for the users vs the corporate executives who knew how to raise money and manipulate people but had never constructed nor maintained anything.
Alan and Tron and Walter and Lora just want the greedy executives to get out of their way so they can do a good job. They go so far as breaking into their own company to do it! That is the spirit I miss; I did things like that to get around executive dumb-assery. That is the spirit I fear people entering the oppressive software development environment today will never know.
