…I once wrote one fixit fic trying to make all this make some kind of sense and be a little less horrible for everyone, but nothing can undo the hell that Legacy Grid Tron went through
Part of my interpretation has always been that Legacy Grid Tron was a copy –since moving a program to another computer pretty much always means copying it. And if Grid Tron knew about this– about how his loved ones didn’t even miss him, because they didn’t even know he was gone, because his original was still there– I can only imagine how messed up that would be for him
In my fanworks I focus on the Tron who stayed behind, because that’s all I can handle emotionally.
I imagine he remained part of Encom’s security system, getting updated to keep with the times no matter what.
And I guess that’s another parallel – because just like Alan helping raise Sam, the Tron in Encom was secretly helping teach and train him over the years
(sure, he let him break through security for one prank a year, but you don’t think he always made it easy, do you?)
