In recent years, Do You Hear What I Hear? has become one of my favorite Christmas songs, because I have seen two different movies where it’s humorously juxtaposed against scenes with horrible violence.

First, there was the scene in Gremlins where Frances Lee McCain kills a bunch of Mogwai with kitchen appliances:

And then there was the intro scene of Shazam!, where John Glover gets killed in a car crash:

“#also the song was written as a reaction to the Cuban Missile Crisis”ALT

hey. could you elaborate on this?

I just read about it on the song’s Wikipedia article:

“"Do You Hear What I Hear?” is a song written in October 1962, with lyrics by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne. The pair, married at the time, wrote it as a plea for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis.“

Okay but i am more impressed at the nominative determinism of two people named Noel and Gloria growing up to make Christmas music
