kobrakae:

Messing around in photoshop, I accidentally created Proto-Rinzler.

ooooo, this reminds me so much of the discussion about how the violence of Rinzler was always latent in him, we see already in the 1982 version he can be incredibly ruthless if he’s got any reason to turn off all sympathy for his opponents

also remembering the discussion (wish I could find the posts) about the difference between his fighting style here, and Rinzler’s fighting style in Legacy, and also pre-coup Grid Tron’s fighting style as portrayed in the Betrayal comic (which I don’t always 100% take as canon because it’s got some inconsistencies with the rest of it, but here it makes a very fascinating kind of sense)

…the idea that his fighting style is very direct and efficient when it’s life and death and he’s just doing what he has to do… but it becomes elaborate and flashy when he’s playing… and as Rinzler he no longer has the distinction between the two.
