I will never make it as a commission artist

I have multiple projects half-finished, including some for other fans

but there goes my Pattern Recognizer, like a dog pulling the leash off course, to sniff at an idea for “how to incorporate Bit-fucking and program-copying selfcest into the In Ram Jurisdiction fic”

…so the original premise of that fic is on a back burner, but:

After the events of ‘82, there’s an ongoing investigation into the crimes committed by the MCP, right.

And the investigation finds Ram (who of course in my headcanon didn’t really die, Flynn hilariously misinterpreted what he saw in the Recognizer and Ram’s fine and living in the Encom system with Tron and Yori)

but since Ram is stolen property and evidence of MCP crimes, the investigators rule that he has to be confiscated.

The insurance company still has their own backup of him, they don’t need him back– BUT they bought exclusive license to use him, and Encom is now violating that by having a copy of him in their system.

It’s an “in rem jurisdiction” court order, demanding he be deleted ASAP before any criminal elements still active in the system can copy him any more and commit further license violations

so…

it occurred to me that this could mesh kinda well with the other fic about Clu and the the Bit and the other copy of Ram that became the consciousness of the Recognizer

imagine: the investigation finds that other Ram– and takes it as evidence that someone is already making illicit copies of the stolen property, which explains the urgency of the court order.

so Tron and Ram get accosted by that Recognizer, which has been taken over by a whole team of security programs from the criminal investigation. They’ve got Reco-Ram and Clu and Bit locked up in there, and they capture Ram and bring him to the I/O Tower

meanwhile in the user world: Roy has been informed of the investigation and he is cooperating, for now. As the programmer who wrote the Ram program and sold the rights to the insurance company, he’s just been asked to check and confirm whether the programs they’ve found are illicit copies of that one.

so there’s an I/O Tower meeting. with a frustrating communication gap, Roy has no idea the programs are “alive” and he’s just trying to run a comparison file check.

but both Rams are trying to communicate to him that they wanna live and wanna stay in the Encom system with everyone they love

and somehow they manage to get something across, and Roy comes out of it very thoughtful. (I already have some of this written, including a little scene where he talks to Alan about his speculations)

so he comes back later for another I/O meeting.

And in this one, he doesn’t just talk to his programs, he upgrades them.

and here is where the new idea comes in.

Since I’m now involving two Rams…

and since I’ve always viewed the I/O Tower experience as a sort of translation of User communication into terms that programs can relate to…

I was thinking that the way the upgrade happens is that one of the Rams takes the form of Roy. and begins talking to the other, like a User to a Program.

and performs the upgrade like that, hands-on.

(and then they switch off and do it the other way)

the upgrade, of course, is… basically a filing off of serial numbers.

replacing parts of Ram’s old code with new code that works the same, but is outside the terms of the copyright agreement, so totally legal now. so that Roy can inform the investigation that there is no copyright-violating Ram code in the system, and they can all live safely and happily ever after

and of course, for Ram, this operation is gonna be some delicious kinky mixture of pleasure and pain

And how Bit comes into this? is that when doing the code replacement, Bit gets used as a tool for this…. an on-off switch

I could have Bit gliding all over Ram’s restrained body… neutral until it reaches the next part to replace

and then giving him a deep NO spike of pain as it switches off the old code

and then a YES of pleasure as it activates the new code

and of course Roy– his intentions translated through the other Ram… overseeing this… praising Ram the whole time, for what a good program he’s being

so… yeah.

That’s my pattern recognizer brain

making its fucked up webs of connections
