i dont understand people who never reread a book or rewatch a movie or series. the best art will always improve upon being revisited. girl. let it reveal more of itself to you.
“Heraclitus said, ‘No man ever steps in the same river twice.’ The same is true for books. The words on the page have not changed, but the eyes reading them have.
You are not the same person you were when you first read it. To reread is not repetition; it is measuring your own soul’s growth against a constant backdrop.
Awaken! Enlighten! Transform!”
My feelings about rereading (and enjoying any other kind of creative work multiple times) are tragically conflicted
… because of all the above, but also because of 1. how many millions of artists out there I haven’t yet gotten to experience, 2. how every time I revisit something I already enjoyed, that’s another bit of time I can’t devote to a lesser-known, new-to-me artist who’s unfairly underappreciated, and 3. the world is fucking cruel for making me both not be immortal and have to spend half my mortal life at work
