i am a minnesotan in early February

several of whose ancestors came from places even more ridiculously far north, such as what I snarkily call the Low-Photon Islands (Lofoten Islands, land of the midnight sun etc)

which latitude-wise is partway between here and the north pole, which gets literally no light in winter and constant light all the time in summer

so the four hours in a day did not actually feel like any kind of hyperbole to me for a second. I am maybe a couple generations removed from people who are living with literally 4 hours daylight right now

and yeah, still not being able to use any of it to do shit.

…What is executive function, in a world like this. Especially the north, in winter. (Especially fucking Minnesota, right now.)
