one of the two published collections of star trek TOS fic

found in a secondhand book store in the 1990s

did not realize at the time that it was fanfic, or what fanfic was. Thought it was just some pro-authors’ short stories. Had read a lot of Trek pro novels already, and the James Blish episode short story versions, so thought it was along those lines

…can’t blame me for that though, since Star Trek was, and still is, exceedingly unusual for having professionally published some of the fanfic that fans made about it. (Does it even still count as fanfic, or does it become pro-author fiction, once that has been done with it? It was originally published as fanfic, though, in zines in the 1970s.)
