so

as Tumblr winds down on posting about Valentines day

which, at least on my dash, was heavily ace/aro this year, and thus pretty anti-traditional-valentines-day in general

(which I respect, even though I’m very much not anyone’s typical idea of aro-ace– I’m somewhere on that spectrum, as well as a few other intersecting spectra, but it’s a ‘somewhere’ that very much resists being defined)

anyway.

whatever I am, i share in the general annoyance at many aspects of the holiday

and i am reminded of several nerdy things that fit together in my nerdy pattern recognizer mind

and that feel to me like things aroace Tumblr would appreciate

there’s the trend of headcanoning characters who are good at archery as ace/aro (makes a sort of sense; do your thing without ever having to get actually close to the target)

there’s the original archetype of this (Artemis/Diana, goddess of virginity and bow-hunting– the ultimate Aro-Ace Arrow Ace)

there’s Eros/Cupid, the damn outlier and rule breaker, both in terms of symbolism trends and puns (Arrows are for Aros, Not Eros!)

and

for those aro-ace math nerds who’d like some revenge on him for this

there’s

Covalentine’s Day.
