i know the reason crickets are symbolic of silence is because when you’re quiet on a summer night thats when you can hear the crickets

But my pattern recognizer always wants to come up with other interpretations

Like, “when i say something and get no response, that’s called ‘crickets’ because it makes me feel like there is no other life out there and I’m all alone in the universe, which is the same mindset that led to the mass murdering rampage originating from the planet Krikkit in one of the hitchhikers guide books”

Or, “when i say something and hear no response that’s 'crickets’ like in Pinocchio, because actually my conscience is yelling like crazy at me to shut the hell up but as usual i am not hearing it”
