Making my way through the murderbot series and still figuring out what I think of it
Interesting how the Secunits have both robotic and organic human parts (both apparently generated and combined in a lab or factory or something)
and how they are distinguished from other entities with both robotic and organic human parts (who apparently got that way from being born human and having the machine parts added)
And those don’t have a distinct name of their own, like cyborg or something, they are just called “augmented humans,” making it clear that they’re considered to be within the category of “humans”
And yet. whenever we see the whole category of humans referred to, it’s never phrased as just “humans.”
It’s always “humans and augmented humans”. Making it look like, on some level, they’re still considered separate groups
But since it’s always through Murderbot’s narration that we see this, I am not sure if that’s a distinction that only Murderbot makes?
…very intriguing.
