I watched the first tron movie the other day and honestly I think I could write an whole ass essay on how that movie have such good characters, premise, theming and world building and how the movie kinda kneecaps itself by not devoting enough screen time to like, all of those aspects

i watched that movie for the first time about 3 years ago, and since then i have already written… well. far too many essays on this.
but it’s worth it for the community of this fandom. We LOVE analyzing every single thing in that film, and crying about what things it should have explored more… and then doing it ourselves, a zillion different ways, because somebody has gotta.

If you wanna see what Bonnie Macbird’s original vision was for the movie when she first wrote the screenplay, there’s at least a couple early drafts of it floating around Tronblr that you can read
It was longer, explored pretty much everything more, and would have done better as a movie more aimed at adults, and not subject to Disney restrictions on length and content
And then you can join us in being really uselessly steamingly mad at a bunch of different targets
Including but not limited to:
the Disney corporation
the general societal tendency towards devaluing the creative work of women
and possibly the 1979-era Soviet Union, for a very indirect and convoluted reason involving the Olympics
