I was completely right when i was an autistic teenager in 1998 complaining that dinner conversation was a terrible terrible idea that humans should stop forever

Nature should not have given us a cloaca on our face in the first place. But if we ARE going to have the same damn hole for eating and drinking and breathing and talking, then the least we can do for damage control is not deliberately try and do all those things at the same time

my point back then was mainly a part of my wider point about how humans schedule all their social interactions around activities (eating, playing games, watching movies) that actively make it more difficult to have a conversation and then try to have a conversation during it anyway

But now I’ve moved past that

I’m well into the realm of “literal physical danger”

I’ve just gone past the obvious “choking hazard,” and am now fixated on how a dozen newer scarier viruses are sweeping the globe every year and every social gathering is a damn superspreader event because there are no fucking social gatherings you can reasonably wear a face mask to, because all of them require goddamn eating

don’t ever use the word “normal” in a positive sense anywhere near me.

(ok rant done. i might be ready to not hate humans again, sometime later tonight.)
