I’m splicing together a full cut of the 82 movie with “deleted” scenes included, for my own convenience, and…
well… the deleted scenes don’t seem to be available in anywhere near the resolution of the rest of the movie… (tried running an “enhancing” script but it just didn’t have enough to work with, lol)
so
I may now need to develop a headcanon that not only did the MCP house poor Yori in the blandest gray quarters… but also in dogshit graphic quality poor girl
It’s plausible that the mainframe at the time had to conserve resources by using simpler rendering for private less trafficed areas like that. Still, could have been worse.. Game engines often optimize world rendering by only rendering the immediate area for the users and programs (basically NPC’s) have to chill in the void basically.. nothing is rendered or textured for them.. haha 😅💜
haaaa yeah! Very true… I imagine that a more realistic idea of the “computer world” would have a lot of that.
And probably there’d be programs who aren’t even really accustomed to having senses like the ones humans have– they wouldn’t feel any need to live in a world that had sights and colors and sounds and rendered space of any sort that human minds could process
(the closest thing to “space” in their experience would be storage memory, and who knows what that would feel like to them)
A movie pretty much has to portray it all looking and sounding like something that’ll make sense to human viewers.
But who knows… the programs may all experience it differently, depending on what sort of programs they are. Even within Tron canon, they might not all see this scene the way we do. (And whose view of it are we seeing, anyway? Tron’s? Yori’s? The way Flynn would see it if he were there? Up to interpretation really)
