there are very, very few owners of popular properties that I would ever, ever trust to write a romantic relationship well

and even if they did, they’d write only one version of it. one single canon storyline of how the characters became a couple. no other way for fanworks to imagine it without making up an AU

i want enough vagueness about relationships that we can imagine them however we want and still be in line with canon

canon itself can damn well stay in its lane and focus on other stuff that it doesn’t nearly always fuck up
