in any fight against discrimination, the point of identifying with your own marginalized group is not that you believe there is anything inherently, biologically different about your group (although it can include that, in cases of disability activism for instance)
On the contrary, the point is the belief that– in the ways that matter, the ways that should entitle you to basic rights and a life worth living– you are not different from other groups that already freely get those rights
So this is why my belief that “astrology is pseudoscientific bullshit” is fully in harmony with my belief that “discrimination based on zodiac sign should be illegal” and also that “naming that fucking obnoxious fucking google ai thing after my sign was fucking hate speech and I will not stand for it”
