headcanons about Walter Gibbs in no particular order:
- his religion is “tech priest” (he canonically believes in the machine spirits cmon)
- he actually knows way more about them than he lets on. He tested the laser on himself secretly before it was perfected with the UV beam upgrade. Flynn only thinks he was the first human to go in there. The Encom system has its own ISOs and they were generated in response to Gibbs in like 1980 and one of them named himself Gibson specifically because of that
- Dumont Shipping, source of Sam’s container house, is his business, which Lora and Alan were in on for a while. (Trade secret for extra fast shipping: use the laser. Complication: the laser’s only really proven to work safely on oranges. Solution: they shipped mostly just oranges. Result: Alan and Lora invested a lot in oranges, eventually even starting their own orange grove, which centuries later was inherited by their descendant John Sheridan)
- He did NOT create a program named “Automan” when he was younger. That was a different Walter. Probably. Maybe.
regular brain: Gibbs cannot be the same Walter who did Automan because his last name isn’t “Nebicher”
big brain: Gibbs could have changed his name when he got married (he is wearing a wedding ring in the Dillinger office scene) (i totally think he might be the kind of guy to take his wife’s name instead of the other way around)
galaxy brain: he is married to Automan
