This is the only time besides 1982 where we really got to see a computer world that “naturally formed,” the way whatever Mysterious Phenomenon causes it.

Because it’s all more views of the same system– and they did a Fantastic Job of that!

I love it. It’s just the right mix of human and technological and magical and random. It’s so much the way I’d imagine such a world could look, if there was a Mysterious Phenomenon that could cause a living world to form inside a computer.

But they never quite did it again. Everything Tron has done since then has been more like, “let’s show what the world inside the computer might look like, if it was built by a human who wanted to do his own take on how a world inside the computer should look.”

(And then they made it hard for me to believe even that without theorizing some really tragic crushing of a human soul over time. Because I saw how Kevin Flynn decorated his apartment in 1982!)
