I love how everyone silently agreed to queue this and it’s only now crawling out of the processing vortex. Tumblr posters love being contrary so much
I, too, just discovered the queue
But it was in a discord chat after I posted this page from the Tron novelization
Which has a version of the Deleted Love Scene but in this version Tron gets his own Magical Girl transformation like Yori’s, except his hair has a “warrior’s forelock and queue”
and that was the day I learned that a “queue” is that little rat tail in the back of the Badger Hair Tron hairdo that’s only ever seen in behind-the-scenes production photos
(it’s hard to find any photos showing the back, though, I think Tron is self-conscious about his queue, lol)
ANYWAY
Since Tron is a sentient computer program
And since I just TODAY learned, from this post, that “queue” is also apparently a programming term
I am gonna headcanon (haircanon? header-canon? ha!) that when you include a queue in programming, your program manifests inside the Computer World with a funky rat tail hairdo
(and no I’m not gonna queue this post because that is TOO many levels of pun for me right now)
in case anyone is still wondering about Tron’s queue
demonstrating how Yori was written with a much longer queue than Tron
(makes sense, because she is the one whose work– rendering matter in digital form– takes many very particular steps)
(therefore, the one who is capable of planning out many tasks in a row, first-in, first-out)
(Tron can only react in the moment. When he “has to make plans,” he goes directly to Yori.)
Like a true Pattern Recognizer, I’ve recently found a way to connect all this even further
To my own life
In an actually useful way.
Like so:
There is a mood I get into where I feel like I’m supposed to be doing stuff, but I can’t stay focused enough to figure out what stuff I should be doing or in what order, so I just wander around wasting time and being frustrated
The term I often use for this mood is “listless.”
And there are two things I’ve found that reliably improve it.
One is:
Having a list.
(makes some sense right?)
And the other, less obvious, but quite effective one:
Remove the sensory distraction of my hair being in my face.
By tying my hair back.
So, also a list of tasks– but the way it’s rendered for an Encom program.
My own queue.
One of those wonderful moments when it works on all levels.
