the rule of tumblr is that all your most insightful commentary must be buried under a mandatory “This is What You stupid fucking people Don’t Fucking Get” just make it as hostile and offputting as possible. really aim to make people unsafe, cause we all know that’s when people are most likely to listen

yeah this is unironically true and it sucks

none of my politely, empathetically worded insights get anywhere near the engagement of similar insights that are worded in hostile and off-putting ways

…for example, if I had made this post, it would read something like “I kinda think it would be nice if people were more often kind and less often hostile in their presentation of insightful commentary”

and it would have gotten probably between 1 and 3 notes over the same two year period since posting

like it or not, being an asshole tends to be pretty effective
