Boy am i glad that the con has a facebook page so i can post this photo:
I love how all the stories of “chihuahua looks like a different animal” can only go one way, when you think about it
for example that famous urban legend about a couple who went to Mexico and adopted what they thought was a chihuahua, but turned out to be a rat. The impossibility of this.
like. if it was your first time seeing a chihuahua, and you’d never seen a rat, and your concept of both those animals was entirely defined by cartoon images you had seen– then I can imagine you might possibly mistake a chihuahua for some kind of rat.
But there is realistically no way you’d see a rat and mistake it for a chihuahua. Even if you’d never seen either animal before, and knew them only from cartoons. The archetypal cartoon images of those animals don’t lean in that direction.
likewise: The person who read your claim of seeing a kangaroo, and assumed you must have seen and misidentified a chihuahua– that is like… theoretically possible, that someone could see a chihuahua in a very kangaroo-like circumstance, poking a head out of someone’s pouch, and jump straight to “pet kangaroo”
But once you show the actual photo… nope. no possible way anyone could think THAT was a chihuahua
chihuahuas are special animals. they can be mistaken for a lot of things, but just about nothing else can be mistaken for them in real life.
