origin story for Veggietales: Bunnicula can turn his victims

(explains their animacy but also why they don’t have souls and a redemptive relationship with god)

the default status of a vampire is soulless but with the apparent intelligence of a well-educated human. thus vampirism is a downgrade for ensouled humans, but an upgrade for vegetables

while turned humans tend to be referred to as Undead, turned veggies are more properly called Unalive

as all the characters on Veggietales are disembodied plant parts removed from the body and soil which could have kept them alive, the vampirism definitely saved them from death. presumably they could no longer have lived by photosynthesis anyway

(different types of vampires have different relationships with the sun, but I imagine that for plants-turned-vampires it simply ceases to be a valid source of nourishment)

(this is a known fact: albinism in plants is a form of vampirism, because without chlorophyll the only way they ever survive is to graft themselves to another plant successfully enough to parasitize its nutrients)

we must assume the majority of nutrition the Veggietales characters get is each other. presumably it isn’t shown because this is not a good christian message for kids

anyway, Bunnicula the vampire rabbit being the source of their salvation gives a whole new context to Veggietales Easter
