Tron: Legacy (2010) dir. Joseph Kosinski

Said it before but I love how they repeatedly emphasize how “secure” the OS is.

Because I love how it gives me plotbunnies that tie in with the rest of my headcanons

which so far have been:

- Alan wrote Tron to be a security program (1982 canon)

- moving a program to another computer requires copying it (IRL canon)

- when Kevin put Tron in his new Grid, Encom would still need a security program, so I assume he left the original copy undisturbed

- Sam was able to break through Encom security to play pranks, therefore original Tron was deliberately letting him (because Tron knows MCP-style oppression when he sees it, and he also knows and welcomes the feeling of a Flynn trying to help)

- Alan is still deeply involved in Tron’s life and has been keeping him updated this whole time to make sure he’s always compatible with current systems

- He may or may not know Tron’s actually alive (I personally think he does). In any case he cares a hell of a lot about his work on security

- Alan, as the creator of Encom’s greatest security program, would probably be involved in the much-touted security of OS-12 as well. Tron may also be involved in this.

- Alan is just about done with someone telling him what his life’s work can and can’t do (or that free software is bad and incompatible with safety)
