going through all movies that edited a redtailed hawk call over footage of a bald eagle. edit out the redtail hawk call. replace with wilhelm scream
expanding on this. If I met a genie, like in this post by hopeless-eccentric but more canon-accurate because the genie in the original Aladdin tale didn’t actually have any limit on number of wishes (not that the original Aladdin tale is really canon-accurate itself, because it was a very late fan-edit to the much earlier Arabian Nights collection and it’s set in China and written by someone who’d clearly never been to China and thought China was an Arab Muslim country? but anyway that’s the version i’m gonna run with)
anyway.
if I met a genie with no wish limit, and I trusted this genie enough to give it a task composed entirely of chaos-trickster absurdism, like in the above-linked post.
I would ask for all eagles in movies that ever got their one singular speaking line forcibly dubbed into Redtail Hawk Language for some reason, to magically get a Wilhelm scream instead.
every person who’s watched any of these movies now remembers it as always sounding like the wilhelm scream. Nothing else changes about the past or anyone’s memories. every person who remembers working on the sound editing in these scenes will still remember everything the same about how they chose the sound to dub in. except that it’s always been a wilhelm scream. maybe they remember that they copied it from a tape labeled “red tail hawk calls” and they remember it sounded like exactly what they wanted for the eagle scene, and they can’t remember why they thought the wilhelm scream sounded so perfect for that. Maybe they know all sorts of bird calls and they clearly remember being able to tell it was a redtail hawk noise. and it also definitely sounded exactly like the wilhelm scream. what do you mean those things sound exactly the same, never noticed that before!
this will still happen if they did not ever know what the Wilhelm scream was. even if they did this sound-editing before the actual Wilhelm scream recording was even made. still sounded the same. they still remember thinking it was the perfect noise for a bald eagle to make. if they later heard the Wilhelm scream for the first time, they will just remember being surprised at how much it sounded like a redtail hawk call. If they hear other recordings of redtail hawk calls they will notice that they do not sound like the wilhelm scream, and they will think this is a problem with those redtail hawk calls, not the one they used.
other incorrectly-dubbed birdcalls in movies will remain unaffected. except the one in Charlie’s Angels. That guy gets the Roblox/Messiah Oof noise.
