i just saw a loose thread on my clothes and imagined it was some kind of a weird worm
and because I often don’t think in words or symbols or pictures, just raw data, and can therefore have my thoughts run extremely fast sometimes… there was approximately 1 second of time which encompassed: 1. the thought of it being a worm, 2. the subsequent realization that it was just a clothing thread, 3. the hypothetical scenario of “what would my reaction be if it had been a weird worm crawling on me,” 4. the answer “if it was weird enough, and enough unlike real worms, I’d probably decide I was dreaming,” 5. the question of what my response would be to realizing I was dreaming, and 6. the conclusion that it would be along the lines of “fuck YES I actually got to sleep already! I’m not actually stuck in executive function hell staying up past my bedtime, this rules”
and then I stayed up a little later, just to put all these thoughts into words and post this.
moral of the story:
think fast does not necessarily mean think good
especially when sleep-deprived
