(image description: screenshot of me touching U. the letter U on my touchscreen keyboard. holding it down until it offers me a list of options, including the usual assortment of accented versions of the letter U, but also, bizarrely, the number 7 for some reason)
update. by experimenting with other letters, I have figured out that all of the top-row letter keys give me the adjacent number key as an option when they’re held down.
this would be convenient, except for the fact that four of those letters are vowels and ALSO give me the full set of accented-vowel options, which I’ll select by mistake if I’m not careful. my fingertip-on-touchscreen precision is nowhere near good enough to make this a more effective way to choose a number than just “switching to the number keyboard instead”
Touches U in a very weird, inefficient, technologically enshittified, but still really not sexy way. I guess.
If I could rearrange the alphabet I’d put U and I together (remembers the qwerty keyboard already does that) ..I mean I’d put U next to me (remembers I’m an asterisk and that’s already right next to U) um… I would invite at least three letters and non-alphanumeric symbols to have an orgy with us. i guess.
