drives me totally fucking insane that a large part of why we don’t have legal weed is bc drug testing companies make a shitload of money from it. you can do cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates, etc and pass a drug test 3-5 days later, if it wasn’t for the fact that weed stays in your system for weeks-to-months… the fail rate would be so uselessly low that employers would stop doing it.

and, like all things in this fucking shithole, it has its roots in anti-Black racism. the push for legal weed only really started when white people gentrified it in the eyes of the broader culture. I want to set Rick Scott, who owns a large stake in companies that do drug tests and signed a law that made drug testing mandatory for welfare, on fire. fucking dollar store lex luthor I loathe you

I mean even when weed is legal it takes another whole campaign to make any laws saying that being a weed user is a protected category when it comes to job discrimination and companies can’t refuse to hire you based on that

i mean I think maybe they managed to do this in (some parts of) California but it definitely hasn’t happened everyplace with legal weed
