roughentumble:

i truly believe with my whole heart that all pharmacies should be 24/7. and everyone always pisses and shits and sobs about how “the poor workers are ALREADY SO OVERWORKED and now you want them to NEVER GO HOME” when i so fucking obviously mean “WE SHOULD HIRE MANY MANY MORE EMPLOYEES and some of them should be hired for night shifts” like medicine is fucking important it is VITAL some people could DIE without theirs and you never know when someone will be busy or when they will remember or when they will have transport or when they will have the spoons. every pharmacy on planet earth should be open 24/7 it should employ as many people as can physically fit inside it+12 extra people for redundancy and shifts, people should never ever ever have to rely on someone else’s schedule to get life saving medication

I work overnight at a 24/7 pharmacy and YES. I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS DAMMIT

Pretty much EVERY job needs much more staffing, but every pharmacy I’ve worked at needs it like, urgently now

And overnight shifts should NOT be “ten hours, 1 (one) technician and 1 (one) pharmacist, each one has a single 30-minute break, but the pharmacist doesn’t really get to take it because they’re necessary for the work and we can’t afford to let work just pile up for 30 minutes at any time of night”

For one thing, some tasks (like transferring a controlled substance prescription between two pharmacies in the same hospital because the emergency room fucked up and sent it to the pharmacy that is CLOSED) require two pharmacists to approve and it is so fucked that we just have to tell those patients “come back during the day”

I know the pharmacy is obsessed with how much it would cut into profits to hire any more people but DUDE. THIS IS A HOSPITAL PHARMACY. YOU ARE OSTENSIBLY NONPROFIT

Just my own personal fucking opinion
