Rewatched The Rocky Horror Picture Show again, and I can’t stop linking these two different works together. A truly beautiful queer fantasy…

Hahaha we have had such conversations about this connection

Ok lemme go find what I said

Okay just simply going by their roles in the story:

unsuspecting couple who get involved with it, help further the plot, and presumably survive and return to normal life at the end

Brad and Janet / Alan and Lora (hey! Brad Bradley!)

Character who enters the situation deliberately to try and resolve a problem, and presumably survives and returns to normal life at the end:

Dr Scott / Flynn

Character on the inside who dies while trying to actually make decisions that further the plot (and also at one point rides a motorcycle through a wall)

Eddie/Ram

Characters on the inside who actually succeed in making decisions that further the plot, leading to death of villain:

Riffraff and Magenta / Tron and Yori

Older man who makes vague and strangely wise observations about what’s going on in the story but isn’t directly invoved:

“The Criminologist” at the beginning / Walter Gibbs

(back when I watched this i thought he was the same guy as Dr Scott so this confused me for a bit)

Tyrant in control when they arrive:

MCP / Frank

Minion of tyrant, “made” and empowered by him, with strangely sexual vibes, who is fought and killed in the final battle along with him

Sark / Rocky

Lower minion, also killed:

Columbia / Sark’s Lieutenant

….But that’s 1982. Clu and Flynn as Rocky and Frank works for Legacy. (Which fits with the whole “Flynn became the MCP” theme from which I view that movie)

And I agree none of this works at all if you’re taking vibes into account.

(For instance, in Legacy there is one character who has FranknFurter vibes and it is definitely not Flynn)
