bitbrain86:

realizing that half the reason i love the tron fandom, specifically the artists of it, is that nobody tries to make the characters look perfect.

and i think that’s due to the fact that the two “main” movies were made and released before the current trend of fillers & ozempic everywhere became really big. all the characters look natural. they all look like literally anyone you could run into on the street, which is so important.

like they’re all attractive in some right, but it’s not the supposed perfect attractiveness we’ve come to see. and none of the artists (that i’ve run across, at least) try to make them perfect.

tron and alan always have the sharp, straight nose and pointed ears and that little bit of roundness to their faces.

lora and yori always have the slightly-less-sharp but still pointed nose and wide eyes, and she always seems to be soft. slim, sure, but there’s a softness those characters carry that soooo many artists are good at showing.

flynn’s just, well, flynn, with his wild hair. but even still, he’s not “perfectly attractive” by today’s standards, and none of the artists try to make him be. same goes for sam.

idk man. it’s a lot of rambling. i just think the tron fandom is the best at retaining the original characteristics of actors and their characters to the point that they’re all immediately recognizable. even bruce the shapeshifter.

Yesss

So much this

…and not just the attractiveness of the characters, even, but also the art styles

And this might be a Tumblr thing in general. Or a small fandom thing. But… I’ve been other places where people expected all fan art to be drawn to a specific standard of perfection (art quality as judged by someone with tastes that are somehow both the most mainstream and also the most picky tastes imaginable)

But I guess we know very well (from both the glorious chaos behind-the-scenes of the first movie, and the canon storyline of the second) how much good “perfection” actually is.
