I use Instagram occasionally and basically just follow accounts of fishkeepers and fat frogs but, as Instagram tends to do, the algorithm will notice that I spend more time on text posts (because I have to fucking read them) and start serving me 1,000 screenshots of tweets instead of my beloved fat frog pictures. Today it decided to give me a hundred tweets of people talking about how scared they are of the “inevitable AI apocalypse that’s going to wipe out humanity” and I would like to remind everyone that when tech bros say “AI will destroy humankind in the next x years” you should give it the same consideration as when Evangelicals say “the rapture is going to happen any day now”.
Especially apt comparison when it’s a tech bro saying this while working on the same AI.
