ok so. There’s vampire lore where everyone they bite changes into a vampire… And there’s vampire lore where they have to do something specific (like both drink each other’s blood) to make them change

And I get how the whole idea of the vampire contagion is probably influenced by our shared human experience with other scary things transmitted by biting. Like rabies and so on

So I get how the actual bite is always gonna be an important part of the trope

But sometimes I see it worded as, “vampires turn you by drinking your blood”

and I can’t help but think about how hilarious it’d be if that was literally true

Like. Vampire drinks a bag of blood from the hospital, and a bunch of people who donated months ago suddenly wake up Undead

Vampire bites you, and at the same moment you turn, so does the stranger you got a transfusion from last year

Rules-lawyering about the definition of “drinking your blood”

Vampires researching who currently legally owns each bag of blood they drink

Like Dracula doing business with a realtor to make sure he’ll have houses everywhere that he can enter without having to be invited

If the blood is legally owned by a corporation then of course nothing changes when the vampire drinks it
