datamodel-of-disaster:

Selling trousers secondhand is SO hard and I do not get it.

Tops and bodices, if they’re from any known brand, they fly out the door. Dresses, even if they’re *not* from a brand, if they are very skimpy or hit some keywords like “vintage” or “gothic”, pretty much the same. Skirts, if they’re leather, pleather, PVC, or name brand anything, they’re basically sold the same day they’re listed. And fetishy stuff, bodysuits, corsets, lace anything, etc? Yeah, never lasts long before it sells. I’ve even listed my utterly worn out, visibly damaged in several places, borderline beyond wearability PVC thigh highs, and they sold within the hour.

Like, there’s always no name, boring normie stuff that just doesn’t sell no matter what you do. That’s not what this is about. With trousers? You could have objectively great ones that hit a ton of markers that would spell a fast sale for any other item; name brand, obvious punk or goth aesthetic, flashy metal hardware, corset lacings, shiny fabrics, 100% cotton, etc etc…

And yet, they Just. Don’t. Sell.

Often there will be nearly a 100 people adding them to favorites. They’re repeatedly some of my most popular items based on faves and clicks. And they’re in the same (low!) price category as all my other stuff.

But they do not sell.

What am I supposed to do to sell trousers?

If I may do some random market research, if you were buying goth gear secondhand, what would make you buy trousers?

If I was buying trousers of any kind… I personally would feel that I need to try them on in person. Of all clothing, they’re the most likely not to fit the way I like. and I have very little trust in their listed sizes, in general.

But I doubt that explains your problem… since you said that bodysuits sell well, and I’d imagine those have even more different measurements that you’d need to be sure were right.

But then, with bodysuits there are probably fewer options available to buy in the first place. Maybe it’s a combination of “need the exact right size” and “supply vs demand”?

Not sure. Been a long time since I bought or sold any clothes.
