fascinating thought.
this is very interesting in the context of Tron 82, where the spaces that seem most sacred to the programs (like the I/O Tower, where they commune with the User world) are where the design of their environment uses the most curves. It’s like they are taking the effort to portray curves as best they can, because deep down they know that curves come from the world of their gods.
in related pattern-recognizer brain connections: reminds me of Hundertwasser, an architect who designed some really fascinating buildings in Austria that tried to mimic the shapes of landscapes (similar to what Gaudi did in Spain, though Gaudi’s shapes more often resembled reptiles and sea creatures. but both those architects used a lot of colorful mosaics, and both definitely preferred curves over lines.)
anyway, a famous quote from Hundertwasser is “die gerade Linie ist gottlos” (“the straight line is godless”)
Programs probably believe that. I’d guess.
…But then, how do they explain the Bit, I wonder?

ha.
Probably same question as how Hundertwasser would explain octahedral mineral structures.
Hundertwasser: “straight line is godless”
Einstein: “god does not play dice”
fluorite crystals: “both of you, roll a D8 for perception”

(I like both Hundertwasser and Einstein, but I think Hundertwasser would beat Einstein in a wizardry duel where their element and power level were decided by the German meanings of their names)
